In the framework of the "International Day of the Russian Language “, which is celebrated this Saturday, June 6, diplomatic authorities of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Russian Federation made a wreath before the monument of the Russian poet and playwright Aleksander Pushkin, located in the “Ezequiel Zamora” Park, El Calvario, in Caracas.

The ceremony was led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Communication, Rander Peña, and the ambassador of the Eurasian nation accredited to Venezuela, Sergey Melik-Bagdasárov, accompanied by representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in the South American country.

Deputy Minister Peña stressed the importance of commemorating this date, because the “Russian language does not belong only to Russians, it belongs to the whole of humanity”.

During the activity, the Venezuelan diplomat emphasized that the two countries are united by “deep ties that go beyond political and economic ties; they have historical roots reaffirmed at the time by Francisco de Miranda, and Empress Catalina, recognizing that this meeting was much more than a diplomatic meeting, it was a historic meeting that ended up inspiring generations to come”.

“Today we send you from Bolivarian Venezuela, our deep embrace to the Russian people8 on this important day, always reaffirming the close ties of brotherhood, solidarity and perfect alliance,” Peña emphasized.

Russian Language Day was decreed by the United Nations (UN) to be celebrated every June 6, coinciding with the birthday of the outstanding poet Pushkin. This date was chosen as part of the multilateral entity's program to support and develop multilingualism and cultural diversity, ensuring the equality of the six official languages.
