This Tuesday, October 07, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, formalized the binational alliance with Russia by signing the Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Treaty with the Russian Federation.

The activity, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, took place during a high-level meeting held with the Russian ambassador, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasárov.

The presidential signature, in accordance with Article 106 of the Internal Regulations and Debates of the Legislative Branch, formally consolidates the alliance and seeks to strengthen and protect the high-level relations that exist between Caracas and Moscow, reinforcing the multipolar position of both nations.

After the unanimous approval of the National Assembly (AN), the Venezuelan Head of State emphasized the importance of the agreement, which seals the road map for binational cooperation for the next 10 years and will be automatically renewed every five, with the intention of strengthening the structure of the strategic partnership.

He commented that the signing also coincides with a significant date for his Russian counterpart (this October 07 marks President Vladimir Putin's 73rd birthday).

“When it appears in the Official Gazette it is Law of the Republic, I thank the National Assembly for its debate and for this treaty approved today on President Vladimir Putin's birthday,” said the head of state.

The Treaty was originally signed on May 7 in Moscow by President Maduro and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

Its key objectives include: Independent Financial Infrastructure: Development of mechanisms that facilitate trade and investment without dependence on Western financial systems.

Joint Investments: Strategic collaboration in vital sectors such as oil, gas and mining.

Energy Alignment: Greater coordination in international forums such as OPEC and the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries.
