The Deputy Minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania of the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Tatiana Pugh, accompanied the ambassador of the State of Kuwait accredited to Caracas, Fadel Haidar Saud Alhasan, to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the National Day and the 34th anniversary of the Liberation of this Arab nation.

In the Monumental Complex National Pantheon and Mausoleum of the Liberator Simon Bolivar, in the Venezuelan capital, where flowers were presented to the Father of the Fatherland amidst the glorious notes of the national anthems of both countries, Pugh and Alhasan, accompanied by part of the diplomatic corps accredited in the Venezuelan capital, ratified the bonds of friendship and solidarity that unite the parties, who established diplomatic relations on the 13th of September 1965.

Kuwait's National Day is celebrated every February 25 to celebrate the country's independence, which was achieved in 1961, while the liberation of Kuwait celebrates the end of the Iraqi occupation on February 28, 1991.

Venezuela and Kuwait share historic ties of cooperation in the context of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), of which they were founding members together with Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia in 1960.

Caracas reaffirmed its ties of cooperation, brotherhood, solidarity and mutual respect with Kuwait, based on the defense of multilateralism and the right to self-determination of peoples, the latter enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.

The girls and boys of the Bolivarian National Educational Unit “Armando Zuluaga Blanco” in Caracas accompanied the solemn ceremony.
