The Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, rejected this Monday the statements of the Secretary General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Carla Barnett, regarding the election of the governor of the state of Guayana Esequiba, in the historic regional and legislative elections this Sunday, May 25.

Through her Telegram channel, Rodríguez described Barnett's comments as insolent, noting that the official “acts as an employee of Exxon Mobil and does not represent the voice of all CARICOM countries.”

In this regard, he ratified that “the territorial dispute over the Essequibo is resolved by the Geneva Agreement through negotiations. There's no room for anyone's meddling! The Venezuelan sun rises in the Essequibo!” , he emphasized.

During election day, the candidate of the Great Patriotic Pole Simón Bolívar (GPPSB), Neil Villamizar, was elected governor of Esequiba Guiana, fulfilling the mandate of the Venezuelan people after the referendum of December 2023.
