The Venezuelan delegation won two sabre bronzes during the first days of the Lima Senior Pan American Championship, an event that takes place from June 15 to 20 and which grants places to the 2027 Pan American Games.

The men's sabre opened the medal table with Eliecer Romero, who advanced to the table of 32 by bye and then beat Henrique Garrigós (15-10), Manuel Bahamonde (15-10) and Juan Bacha (15-8) to enter the semifinals, where he fell to Colin Heathcock (15-2), a result that placed him on the continental podium, according to a press release from the Ministry of Sport.

In the same race, José Quintero finished sixth, while Marcel Medina ranked 22nd and Simon Durán finished in the 55th place.

The second bronze came in the women's sabre with Katherine Paredes, who started 32 by bye and advanced after beating Ana Fraga (15-11), Madison Thurgood (15-2) and Siobhan Sullivan (15-12), although she yielded in the semifinals to Natalia Botello (15-7).

In this category, Yesimar Aponte finished tenth, Andrea Moros finished in 20th place and Ariana Prieto ranked 26th.

In the women's foil, Isis Giménez was the best placed to finish in 11th place, followed by Bárbara Manrique (16), Anabella Acurero (17) and Hillary Avelleira (22).

The performance of the men's sabre stood out in Central America and the Caribbean, as Romero and Quintero positioned themselves as the best in the region, second only to representatives from the United States.

For fencing, Diego Anzola finished 11th in the U-23 World Championship held in Turkey, Venezuela's first participation in this category.
