The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, represented by Ambassador Samuel Moncada, participates in the Third Meeting of National Coordinators of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations (UN), which takes place in Moscow, Russian Federation, which ends this Tuesday, April 15.
The information was provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, in its account on the social network Telegram, in which it noted that high-level delegations from various member countries are participating in the meeting.
In his speech, Moncada conveyed the greetings of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, Vice President Delcy Rodríguez and Foreign Minister Yván Gil.
He thanked the Russian Government for its hospitality and reaffirmed Venezuela's commitment to multilateralism, where he emphasized the importance of 2025, the year in which 80 years are commemorated since the founding of the UN and the defeat of Nazism and fascism.
Moncada denounced the impact of unilateral coercive measures against the Peoples of the South and warned of increased military spending and the criminalization of migration as risk factors for global stability.
In addition, he warned of the imposition of a model based on force, which would pose a threat to international law.
He also stressed the need to reform the global financial architecture and noted that the dominance of the dollar and systems such as SWIFT operate as exclusion mechanisms.
The ambassador urged member countries to redouble their efforts in international cooperation and the defense of a just world order, based on respect for international law.
The international event brought together representatives from Belarus, Bolivia, China, Cuba, North Korea, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Iran, Laos, Mali, Nicaragua, Palestine, Russia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Uganda, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.
During the opening, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov highlighted the importance of strengthening multilateral cooperation to preserve the fundamental principles of the United Nations (UN).
The Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter was established in July 2021 in New York and since 2023 it has also had a presence in Geneva. The platform seeks to reinforce multilateralism and promote respect for the sovereign equality of States.
Since its creation, it has expanded its scope of action, consolidating itself as a space for the defense of international legality in the midst of a challenging global scenario. Its members agree that unrestricted compliance with the Charter is key to global peace and stability.
Therefore, the event reaffirms Venezuela's commitment to consolidating an international order based on cooperation and equity, to promote dialogue and peaceful solutions as fundamental pillars.
