Venezuela ratified its commitment to climate change and the Paris Agreement

Molina expressed Venezuela's firm willingness to strengthen multilateralism in the fight against the climate crisis.

The Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Ricardo Molina, held a meeting with the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Simona Stiell, to whom he explained Venezuela's position before the upcoming COP30 meeting and confirmed that, despite the imperial war threat, the country is willing to comply with the Paris Agreement.

The information was published by Molina, on his Telegram channel, in which he highlighted that during the meeting, he delivered a copy of the second National Determined Contribution 2025-2030 (CDN), a document where Venezuela is committed to implementing mitigation and adaptation projects in the face of climate change.

He specified that these projects are part of the Homeland Plan and the Plan of the 7 Great Transformations and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The authorities also discussed the fulfillment of the commitments made by developed countries in terms of their contribution and funding for the implementation of mitigation and adaptation projects in the global south.

Molina expressed Venezuela's firm willingness to strengthen multilateralism in the fight against the climate crisis, with an emphasis on environmental justice and assuming shared but differentiated responsibilities.

In addition, he delivered the official document containing the manifesto and the conclusions of the World Congress in Defense of Mother Earth, held from October 8 to 10 in Caracas, where the country acted as spokesperson for popular organizations from 63 nations.

The minister presented a copy of the book “More than Environment is Ecosocialism”, which exposes the ethical, modern and participatory vision of ecosocialism, based on the thinking of the Liberator, Simon Bolivar; the Commander, Hugo Chávez and the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.
