Venezuela received 392,000 doses of polio vaccines

A total of 392,000 doses of polio vaccine were received by the Ministry of Health, in conjunction with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), to reinforce the immunization of children throughout the country.

The director of Immunization at the Ministry of Health, Eloisa Del Carmen Garrido De Romero, explained that the funding, from India, is aimed at girls and boys between 2 and 11 months of age, according to a note from the health portfolio replicated by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN).

“With this shipment of more than 390,000 doses against poliomyelitis, we guarantee the beginning, updating and completion of the schemes,” he said, noting that they will be distributed to health centers and immunization stations in the Comprehensive Community Health Areas (ASIC) in the municipalities and states of the country.

For his part, the Unicef Immunization and Cold Chain officer, Roberts Fajardo, highlighted the organization's support in the delivery of vaccines and the strengthening of logistics processes.

The addition of this provision will allow the National Public Health System to strengthen vaccination coverage and maintain free and timely access to biological products intended for children.
