As part of its commitment to hydrographic development and nautical safety, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela received a visit from the Executive Director of the International Hydrographic Organization (OHI), Luigi Sinapi.

This strategic visit reinforces technical cooperation ties and consolidates Venezuela's position as a regional reference in hydrography and nautical cartography.

Sinapi toured the facilities of the Coordinating Office of Hydrography and Navigation (OCHINA), the Hydrography, Oceanography, Meteorology and Nautical Cartography Service (SHN) and attended a high-level meeting with authorities in the hydrographic field.

“This strategic visit allows us to show our progress and reinforce Venezuela's commitment to the highest international standards in hydrographic matters,” said the director of OCHINA, José González Torrealba.

As a full member of the OHI, Venezuela has promoted a strategic plan to strengthen its cartographic and navigation capabilities, evidenced by its active participation in the Twenty-fifth meeting of the Mesoamerican and Caribbean Hydrographic Commission (MACHC), OCHINA press reports.

In recent years, Venezuela has achieved 96% operational efficiency in navigation aid, thanks to modernization under the Lighthouse and Buoys Act and to the joint work between OCHINA, SHN and public and private partners. This advance guarantees navigation safety, accident prevention and environmental protection.
