Venezuela registered a 10.5% increase in oil exports in 2024, after reaching an average of 772,000 barrels per day (bpd), the highest figure since 2019.
According to data on vessel movements and shipping reports from Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), reported by Reuters, the increase is related to the activation of licenses granted to US companies such as Chevron and European companies such as Eni, Repsol and Maurel & Prom.
China remained the main recipient of Venezuelan crude, with an average of 351,000 bpd, while shipments to the United States grew by 64%, reaching 222,000 bpd, positioning itself as the second largest exporter of Venezuelan crude oil.
Among other destinations, shipments to India increased significantly, from 10,300 bpd in 2023 to 63,115 bpd in 2024.
