This Sunday, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, through the Minister of Popular Power for Relations, Yván Gil, rejected the interventionist position of the European Union (EU) on the parliamentary elections in Georgia.
“In Georgia, a political option contrary to some Western interests has won. The EU and Mr. Borrell, as they act in Venezuela, want to act all over the world, they designate themselves electoral and moral judges, going from failure to failure in their interventionist policy at the service of the governments of the United States (USA),” wrote the Venezuelan foreign minister on Telegram.
In this regard, he stressed that organizations at the service of imperialism will always act in an interventionist manner against other countries “they will never recognize true democracy, they will only have a voice to try to please American designs and mandates, a sad role they ended up assuming.”
Gil's reaction comes after the EU, in an interventionist act, urged Georgia's Central Electoral Commission (CEC) to investigate alleged irregularities in the parliamentary elections that took place this weekend.
For now, it became known that the CEC confirmed that the ruling Georgian Dream party won the parliamentary elections with 54.09 percent of the votes, after being counted by more than 99.9 percent of them.
The opposition parties Coalition for Change and Renaissance Strategy came in second and third place, respectively, with 10.8 percent and 10.12 percent. In the same way, the opponents Georgia Fuerte and Gajaria for Georgia, were left with 8.78 and 7.76 percent.
The results obtained by the four political formations of the Georgian opposition indicate that they can have a presence in Parliament, since they managed to exceed the 5 percent required to occupy seats.
Georgian Dream scored poorly in Tbilisi (capital), where it won 45.54 percent of the vote; however, the opposition won 45.8 percent. Also, abroad, Georgian Dream achieved only 17.73 percent, out of 74.62 percent of those counted; meanwhile, the opposition performed better.
