This Monday, the Government of President Nicolás Maduro, through the Ministry of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, faithful to the principles of respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and international law, firmly and categorically rejected the dangerous announcement by the Government of the United States (USA) to carry out large scale arms sales to Taiwan.
Here is the full statement:
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, faithful to the principles of respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and international law, firmly and categorically rejects the dangerous announcement by the Government of the United States of America to carry out large scale arms sales to Taiwan.
This unilateral action constitutes a serious interference in the internal affairs of the People's Republic of China and a flagrant violation of the international commitments assumed by Washington. Such action directly undermines China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, undermines strategic stability and represents a blatant threat that jeopardizes peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reaffirms its unwavering adherence to the principle of “One China”, recognizing that Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory. We also reaffirm our full support for the Government of the People's Republic of China as the only legitimate government that represents the entire nation, including the Taiwan region.
Venezuela expresses its solidarity and fraternal support to the Chinese People and Government, and trusts that, under the framework of international law and the wise leadership of President Xi Jinping, they will be able to overcome this new attack orchestrated from Washington, and sooner rather than later, Taiwan will be reunited with the People's Republic of China, despite the irresponsible actions of third parties.
