Venezuela rejects the inadequate and interventionist statements made by the Japanese Foreign Minister, Toshimitsu Motegi, against Venezuela, which are far from the basic principles of international law.

This was emphasized by the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, who recalled that the “sovereignty of peoples is not negotiated or judged from outside. Relations between States must be based on sovereign equality, non-intervention and reciprocity between nations.”

“We invite the Government of Japan to review any interventionist approach based on a healthy relationship and mutual respect,” Gil wrote on his account on the social network Telegram where he posted a government report that expresses “questions to Venezuelan democracy on the part of his Japanese counterpart.
