The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gilc, shared a statement on his Telegram channel in which Venezuela rejects with absolute firmness the statements of the president of Guyana, Irfaan Ali, in which he infuses accusations against the Bolivarian Government.

“Irfaan Ali made bold and unfounded accusations against the Venezuelan Government, blatantly lying about a subject he knows well, since he is the real leader of the illegal mining of gold and minerals, which has caused an accelerated destruction of the environment and of life itself in a territory that does not belong to him,” Venezuela said in the statement.

The text also indicated that the Guyanese president, who testified from the United States embassy in Georgetown, “lacks the moral authority to talk about legality or democracy. What he exhibits as' cooperation 'with the United States is nothing more than a servile surrender of sovereignty, which seeks to turn his country into a base of operations against Venezuela and against the stability of the region.”

For this reason, Venezuela urged him to remain silent when referring to our country. “His management, marked by surrender, theft and provocation, has no legitimacy to point out anyone. And sooner rather than later, he will have to sit down with Venezuela to resolve what he refuses to admit: that the Essequibo is Venezuelan, and that the exploitation of resources in undelimited maritime areas is an act of modern piracy that will not be tolerated,” he said.
