The Permanent Representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Ambassador Claudia Salerno Caldera, in her first official participation as a member of the Board of Governors of the multilateral entity, requested the urgent dispatch of a technical mission to guarantee the supply of devices for exploration, diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients in the Gaza Strip .

He also called for the presence of experts to examine water, soil, air and food, due to the destruction of the Palestinian hospital network and the risk of contamination due to damage to radiological equipment, as a result of the genocide perpetrated by the Zionist regime in Israel.

During the Meeting of the IAEA Technical Assistance and Cooperation Committee, held this Monday in the city of Vienna, Austria, the Venezuelan diplomat based her intervention on the demand that they make in September of this year, regarding the 68th General Conference of the IAEA, the more than 130 countries that make up the G77 and China, through a strong statement aimed at addressing in a timely manner the serious situation faced by the Palestinian people in priority areas of attention mentioned above, to be considered in the technical cooperation program for the next 2026-2027 cycle.

The Venezuelan delegation requested to begin constructive work with member countries for the implementation as soon as possible of the IAEA's technical mission, an initiative that is also supported by the Group of Arab Countries and is justified in the Statute of the Agency, as well as in resolutions adopted at meetings of the General Conference, according to a press release from the Venezuelan Embassy in Austria.
