Venezuela said it was present at the Ibermedia program to support Ibero-American cinema

The president of the National Autonomous
Cinematography Center (CNAC), Carlos Azpurua, was present for Venezuela at the XXXIV Regular
Meeting of the Ibermedia Intergovernmental Committee, in which the highest audiovisual and cinematographic
authorities from 22 countries participated.
According to information from Venezolana de
Televisión (VTV), the meeting that took place in Bogotá, Colombia, was extended until
last Saturday, to fulfill a work schedule that had among its objectives
the selection of projects benefiting from the program's aid funds
in its 2024 Call.
In this regard, Azpúrua highlighted the
importance of maintaining an active presence in all instances of cooperation
and financing of cinema in Ibero-America.
“We ratify Venezuela's willingness
to honor its participation commitments both in Ibermedia and in the
Conference of Audiovisual and Cinematographic Authorities of Ibero-America (CAACI) and we request an open
and frank debate on the impact of the economic sanctions imposed by the European Union,” he said.
The Ibermedia Intergovernmental Committee is composed of representatives of institutes from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela, as well as Italy as a guest country.
