A representative of the Bolivarian Government developed a successful high-level agenda from June 07 to 11, during the 114th International Labour Conference (CIT), in which the Venezuelan delegation carried out an intense diplomatic activity aimed at consolidating social dialogue.

The day, reported Venezolana de Televisión, began with a bilateral meeting between the Minister of Popular Power for the Social Work Process, Carlos Alexis Castillo, and the director general of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Gilbert Houngbo, to examine the prospects of the bilateral relationship, where the national Government ratified its advances in social dialogue and agreed to strengthen the lines of joint technical cooperation.

In addition, relations in the South American region received a new impetus after the meeting between Minister Castillo and the ILO's regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Ana Virginia Moreira Gomes, setting a road map for strengthening technical assistance in the country.

In the area of trade union and ministerial diplomacy, mutual institutional support was consolidated and the regional alliance with different international trade union organizations was strengthened.

Fruitful meetings were also established to define a common socio-labor agenda and to energize the bilateral agenda between ministries.

Venezuela ratified the nation's commitment to child welfare by joining the high-level event of the World Day against Child Labor, called “Red Card for Child Labor: From Marrakesh to Action”. In this space, national experiences of comprehensive protection were shared.
