Venezuela and the Bolivarian Government of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, extended their thanks to the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran for its strong declaration in defense of the sovereignty and legitimate rights of Venezuela in the face of criminal aggressions by the United States.

In this regard, the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, in his account on the social network Telegram, highlighted the firm condemnation of the Iranian state body against the illegal and provocative actions of the United States government.

“It resonates deeply in our hearts and strengthens our fight for justice and self-determination,” he said.

In his message, Gil attached the press release that gives an account of the actions of Iranian deputies, who harshly criticized the United States for intercepting Venezuelan oil tankers in the Caribbean, calling the measure “maritime piracy”.

“The interception or obstruction of commercial vessels on the high seas without authorization from competent international organizations constitutes maritime piracy, which violates international maritime law and the principle of freedom of navigation,” said the members of the Iranian Parliament in the statement read by the member of the Assembly's board of directors, Moytaba Bajshipur.

The foreign minister confirmed that the seizure and persecution of oil tankers in international waters is an act of piracy “that not only threatens our economy, but also defies the fundamental principles of international law.”

He also asserted that Venezuela appreciates this support from Iran in denouncing these practices that seek to destabilize the Venezuelan nation and subject our people to an unjust siege.
