Faced with the deployment of troops from the
United States (US) Southern Command in Haiti, Venezuela warned this Wednesday of
the risks of using interventionist formulas against the sovereignty of the Caribbean nation.
In a statement, released on social networks by the Minister
of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, Venezuela reaffirmed “its willingness and
willingness to contribute to a solution to the crisis that the Haitian people are
going through, through the joint construction of a solidarity
response based on the principles of good neighbourliness and international solidarity”.
Below is the full text of the document:
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its deep
concern about the events that have been taking place in the
sister Republic of Haiti, and the risks that loom over this nation by
resorting to formulas of interference with its sovereignty, which include a
greater deterioration of its institutionality and the use, once again, of foreign forces without comprehensive support to guarantee
a lasting and stable peace, that opens
the way to the economic and social development required by the people Haitian.
Recent history in Haiti has witnessed coups d'etat, military interventions and violations of the national and
international political order, which have resulted in the current state of instability and
violence, which has been the basis for armed groups, linked to drug trafficking
to the United States, to destabilize the country.
There is no doubt that
behind this situation, lies the perverse hand of imperialism and its atrocious
methods of domination.
Venezuela claims the need to have
initiatives through inclusive dialogue and the participation of all political and social
forces in Haiti, to work on an
alternative solution towards a plan of a political nature, with a view to the formation
of a government, the reinstitutionalization of public powers, the
reintegration into the international economy and the formation of
effective security forces and their own army, which can provide both political and
economic and social for the Haitian people.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reaffirms its willingness and
willingness to contribute to a solution to the crisis that the Haitian people are
going through, through the joint construction of a solidarity
response under the principles of good neighbourliness and
international solidarity, recalling initiatives such as Petrocaribe that offered
favorable conditions for access to energy, concrete and direct benefits for the well-being, development and prosperity of its people, free from external influences
that could compromise their sovereignty.
