Venezuela was selected to host the first edition of the 2025 Copa América Baseball. The event, announced at the Simón Bolívar Monumental Stadium in Caracas, will mark the start of the Olympic cycle heading to Los Angeles 2028 and will serve as a qualifying tournament for other important matches.

The competition will have as its main venues the Jorge Luis García Carneiro stadiums (La Guaira) and the Monumental Simón Bolívar (Caracas), and will bring together the six best countries on the continent, including Mexico (2nd in the ranking of the Americas), Venezuela (3rd) and the Dominican Republic (6th).

Tournament details

The tournament will take place from November 13 to 22 and the Group A matches, which include Brazil, Colombia, Curaçao, the Dominican Republic, Panama and Venezuela, will be played at the Jorge Luis García Carneiro stadiums (La Guaira) and the Monumental Simón Bolívar (Caracas) stadiums.

While Group B will consist of Canada, Cuba, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico and the United States, and will play its round in Panama. In addition, the final round is also scheduled to take place in Panama, specifically at the Mariano Rivera stadium.

It is important to note that the tournament will bring into play four places for the Central American and Caribbean team Santo Domingo 2026 and for the qualifier of the Lima 2027 Pan American Games.

The president of the Pan American Baseball Confederation, Aracelis León, said that “the construction of Venezuela's Olympic path is beginning and we are continuing with that historic goal of making our country number one in the world.”

For his part, the governor of La Guaira, José Alejandro Terán, thanked the trust in Venezuela as a venue, in addition to stressing that the country is preparing for future high-caliber events, such as the 2026 Caribbean Series.

“I want to thank, on behalf of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and the Minister of Popular Power for Sports, Franklin Cardillo, for all the trust they have had in giving Venezuela the headquarters of the Copa América; this is a confirmation from the international organization that Venezuela is also baseball,” said Terán.

It should be mentioned that the above-mentioned event aims to keep Caribbean baseball alive at the level of national teams.
