Venezuela won seven medals in the Pan American Weight Championship in Cali

The Venezuelan delegation continues to achieve success in the 2025 Pan American Senior Weightlifting
Championship, which ends
this Friday in Cali, Colombia, winning four silver and three bronze medals during the penultimate day.
In the 86-kilogram women's division, the
experienced Dayana Chirinos raised the name of Venezuela to second place
on the podium overall.
In the starting mode, the Mirandina lifted 111 kg,
placing third, surpassed by the Dominican Yudelina Mejía (123 kg),
who led the race, while the Colombian Valeria Rivas also registered 111 kg and came in second place.
In both
halves, Chirinos showed strength and technique by lifting 146 kg, which earned him the silver medal, only behind Mejía,
who won the gold medal for one kilogram 147 kg, while bronze went to
Valeria Rivas (142 kg).
With a total of 258 kg in the Olympic total, Chirinos
won the runner-up in the category, behind Yudelina Mejía (270 kg) and
ahead of Valeria Rivas (253 kg).
On the other hand, in the men's category in the
94-kilogram category, Ángel Luna made his comeback in international competitions after
an absence of four years, demonstrating a great competitive level.
At the start, the man from Sucrense managed to lift 155 kg,
placing third, while his teammate, Mauricio Loaiza, recorded 152 kg and placed fifth.
The race was dominated by Colombian Marcos Bonilla (161
kg), followed by Ecuadorian Vicente Braulio (159 kg).
In the racing mode, Luna reached a lift of
195 kg, thus securing the silver medal, while Loaiza achieved 153 kg in
his best attempt to place himself on the third rung. The two times were
once again controlled by Bonilla, who lifted 199 kg.
In the Olympic total, Luna recorded 350 kg, achieving the
runner-up in the division, the Ecuadorian Vicente Braulio (349 kg) was
second, while the gold went to the Neo-Granada player Bonilla (371 kg).
The participation of the Venezuelan delegation in the Pan-American Weightlifting
Championship culminates this Friday with the
presentation of the three-time Olympian, Naryuri Pérez, in the +86
kilogram division, who will seek to place at the top of the podium.
