The ambassador appointed by the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Freddy Eduardo Molina Gutiérrez, presented his Credential Letters to the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, at the Presidential Complex in the capital Ankara.

This protocol formalizes the accreditation of Molina Gutiérrez as head of mission of the South American nation in the Eurasian country, thus reaffirming the relationship at the level of strategic alliance that is expected to be strengthened with the diplomatic experience of the new ambassador.

Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Türkiye date back to 1957, but it was in 2009 that they acquired a high-level character through the Joint Cooperation Commission established between the two nations.

President Nicolás Maduro attended Erdoğan's inauguration as re-elected president in June 2023, marking the fifth time that the Venezuelan President has traveled to the Turkish nation, after his presence in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022, the latter as part of the Eurasian tour with a broad agenda of cooperation.

In July 2023, the foreign ministers of Venezuela, Yván Gil, and of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan, signed the agreement on the “Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments”, better known as the Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT), which aims to establish, maintain and consolidate a legal framework that facilitates and promotes direct investment, with the purpose of promoting the harmonious, productive and sustainable development of both States.
