The president of the Venezuelan Basketball Federation, Hanthony Coello, announced that the number 6 used by Garly Sojo with the national team will be retired, and they will pay tribute to him in the match of the first window of the Americup 2025 qualifier against Colombia.

The 24-year-old Venezuelan basketball player died last December after a severe seizure.

Sojo, who had just reinforced Gladiators from Anzoátegui in the first window of the BCLA, had his first participation with a national team in the 2019 South American U21 Championship in Tunja, Colombia.

He made his debut with Vinotinto de “Las Altura” on June 29, 2021 in the first match of the Kaunas Olympic Qualifying Championship, where Venezuela fell to Lithuania 65-76, and the Venezuelan athlete debuted with 7 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals, recording the team's highest rating (11).

He participated in the Americas qualifiers for the 2023 World Cup, where he played 11 games and helped to obtain the 2023 World Cup, a tournament in which Venezuela could not win, but where Garly left averages of 12.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.8 steals.
