This Sunday, January 4th, the Venezuelan people mobilized to the city of Caracas to demand the release of the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro and his wife, the first lady, Cilia Flores.
Among those in attendance was Angela Cobauga who stated that “we are an independent and sovereign country. We don't need Donald Trump to come and manage our wealth and resources because we know and can do them.”
He added that at the time of the bombing he was sleeping at home and heard the detonations because he immediately began to pray and seek information. “This is a kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and that is why I call on all sectors of the country, both the opposition sectors and those who are in favor of the Bolivarian Government, to all of us, to unite as Venezuelans because we are all children of the same land and right now our country is being the victim of war, kidnapping and foreign invasion and we all have the responsibility to defend it,” he said.
Meanwhile, Carmen Álvarez pointed out that her presence is due to the need to “demand that the international community speak out because we want our constitutional president to be returned to us. We vote and we want for Nicolás, who has been an upright man who, despite the sanctions imposed on the country, has remained up to the fight and dignified in defense of his people.” He added that “the United States Congress must review the actions of its president solely because of his interest in oil and our wealth.”
