In 1813, after the successful completion of the Admirable Campaign, the Liberator Simon Bolivar recognized the work of the patriotic men and women who fought with him to achieve the independence of the Homeland, so he decreed the celebration, on October 10, of Venezuelan Soldier's Day.

Bolívar decided to humanize and dignify the troops of his Army, after the ravages caused by violent and dangerous marches, in addition to the harsh conditions of the fighting. In this regard, he also enacted the Regulations on Rations, Clothes and Food, which was his contribution as Military Chief, so that the welfare, health and nutrition of his soldiers came first.

With the arrival of the Revolution and Commander Hugo Chávez, 206 years later, the living conditions of the regular troops of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces have been optimized for the guidance and preparation of young people serving in military service, to keep alive the independence spirit of those soldiers who fought for our emancipation.

Chávez, who was one of these patriots, once stated that “revolutionary soldiers, we were born for a Revolution and we were born for a Revolution. We are anti-imperialist soldiers because we were always born to face old empires and new empires. We will guarantee dignity to this country called Venezuela”, fulfilling the legacy of the Liberator.
