Venezuelan Theater Festival brought together more than 150,000 spectators

With an emotional event that celebrated the country's cultural diversity, the Venezuelan Theater Festival (FTV) culminated at the Casa del Obrero in Propatria, Caracas, after mobilizing 14,436 artists and gathering a total of 160,000 spectators.

The closing ceremony was attended by the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, who presented, for the first time, the César Rengifo Order to the artists honored in this edition of the Festival, including the post-mortem category for teachers Asdrúbal Meléndez and Gustavo Meléndez.

In his speech, Villegas highlighted the relevance of establishing the César Rengifo Order, an award that rescues the figure of the illustrious Venezuelan playwright and recognizes the trajectory of national theatrical talent.

“In the historic moment that Venezuela is going through, Rengifo comes from eternity and is present in the chest of each one of you. It's a spell, a miracle, a prodigy that fills us with strength,” he said.

The winners of this distinction were Pedro Núñez, from the state of Amazonas; Gregorio Anduja Rojas, from the state of Anzoátegui; Amílcar Castillo, from the state of Apure; Elías Osorio, from the state of Aragua; Katy Andrade, from the state of Barinas; Amanda Madero, from the state of Bolívar; Jesús Mercado, from the state of Carabobo; José Daniel Suárez, from the state of Cojedes; Héctor Figueroa, from the state of Delta Amacuro, and Víctor Pelayo, from the state of Falcón.

Also recognized were the trajectories of Gustavo Oval, from Guárico state; José Ignacio Salazar, from La Guaira state; Aurelio Torrealba, from Lara state; Freddy Torres, from Mérida state; Eduardo Rojas, from Miranda state; Óscar Salazar, from Monagas state; José Salas, from Nueva Esparta state; Ivana Catarroso, from Portuguesa state; Jerry Guerra, from Sucre state; Delcy López, from Táchira state; Ulises Balestrini, from Trujillo state; Germán Ramos, from Yaracuy state, and Robert Yaracuy, Urdaneta, from the state of Zulia.

During the event, it was reported that the FTV had the participation of all 25 states of the country, totaling 493 functions, performed by 250 groups that activated 133 scenic spaces. In addition, 80 special and training events were held.

In addition, it became known that it had a significant community impact, recording the execution of 1,920 functions by an equal number of groups. 2,060 national training actions were also developed, provided by 1,250 performing arts experts.
