Venezuelan Virginia Dellan and Alexmar Sulbarán won bronze in the Open Taekwondo Championship in Austria

Venezuelan taekwondo players Virginia Dellan and Alexmar Sulbarán won the bronze medal at the Austrian Open Championship held in the town of Innsbruck.

Dellan (49 kg), began his performance with a 2-0 victory over Ukraine's Yaryna Kostiuk in the round of 16.

In the top eight phase, the Venezuelan defeated Germany's Yerda Cura 2-0 and advanced to the semifinal, where she yielded (2-0) to Japan's Murukami China to climb to third place on the podium, according to the Ministry of Sports press.

For his part, Sulbarán began his way to the podium in the 57-kilogram category by winning 2-0 in his first match against Khobta Sofiia of Ukraine, then did the same 2-1 in the round of 16 against Germany's Aisha Bangura.

In the quarterfinals, Sulbarán defeated Germany's Jessica Wolf 2-0, but in the semifinals the Venezuelan yielded 2-0 to the Uzbek Madina Mirabzalova, to keep the bronze one.
