The pairs of Valeria Moreno and Aidana Mejías and Gerardo Bordones and Sebastián Pereira entered the next round of the top 24 of the U18 Beach Volleyball World Championship held in Doha, Qatar.

In the women's division, Moreno and Mejías secured their way to the next round by beating the Chilean duo of Guerrero and Vázquez 2-1 (18-21, 21-12 and 15-13) in an exciting match, according to the Ministry of Sport press.

In the first set, the Venezuelans started dominating the score 5-0. However, after a technical time requested by Chile, the Australes' level of play began to improve until they equalized the score to 16.

Reception failures and attacks that remained on the net made it easier for the Chilean team to equalize the game, which remained even until point 18, when poor reception, an attack that stayed in the mesh and a direct serve gave Chile the set 21-18.

For the second leg, Venezuela responded to the strong start of the Chilean duo, who began dominating the score 4-0. But the Criollas demonstrated their hierarchy by equalizing the score and imposed their game with accurate attacks and effective services to dominate the 21-12 set.

In the final instance, the Venezuelans maintained their concentration, when the Chileans scored two points in a row that placed them 13-14. However, the Criollas took advantage of a serving error by the rivals and won 15-13 for the decisive set.

With this victory, the women's duo placed third in the F bracket with 1-2 and sealed their ticket to the next round as the best third in the group.

The Venezuelans will play their way to the quarterfinals this Friday, October 10, against the Gambian duo of Njie and Sambou in the round of 16.

In the men's division, the Venezuelan duo, formed by Gerardo Bordones and Sebastián Pereira, entered the next round as the best third in bracket E with a record of 1-2, thanks to their only victory on Wednesday 2-0 (21-13 and 21-15) against the Chinese duo of Alkeyerkee-Wijiei.
