Young people from the National Scientific Seedbeds Program won gold, silver and bronze medals at the first International Nanotechnology Olympiad for High School Students INOHS 2025, organized by the Islamic Republic of Iran, said the Minister for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez.
“Our replacement generation demonstrates, once again, their extraordinary talent,” Jiménez said in a message posted on his Telegram channel.
In this regard, he explained that Juan José Martínez Barreto, 17, won the gold medal. While Caridad Guerrero Arbeláez, from Miranda (17 years old) and Samuel José Galbán Franco from the state of Zulia (16 years old), won the silver medal.
Paola Alejandra Planas Hernández, from Miranda (19 years old), Isis Camacho Esteves, from Caracas (17 years old) and Luis José Bermúdez Parra, from Caracas (16 years old) won bronze medals.
The test consisted of two phases. The first one was conducted online and represented 70% of the score; at this stage, young people answered 20 multiple-choice questions about nanotechnology and its environmental applications.
The second phase consisted of the presentation of an innovative proposal or solution in nanotechnology applied to the environment. The proposal was presented in a short video. This test provided the remaining 30% of the evaluation.
“I am deeply grateful to students, families, coaches and the organizing team for their dedication. This achievement shows the success of President Nicolás Maduro Moros's policies through the Great Mission of Science, Technology and Innovation Dr. Humberto Fernández-Morán and the National Scientific Seed Program,” he said.
