The Venezuelan people marched this Saturday to the headquarters of the United Nations (UN) in the country to demand an end to the impunity and aggression suffered by peoples of the Middle East such as Palestine and Lebanon.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs , Rander Peña, from the rally in Caracas, pointed out that hundreds of thousands of men and women marched from El Parque Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda to the headquarters of the United Nations on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, on behalf of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and in on behalf of all the organizations in solidarity with Palestine”.
From the place of the rally, a document was read that they delivered to this headquarters and that expresses the solidarity position of the Venezuelan people in the face of the cause of Palestine, where they demand effective action to stop the massacre, human pain and suffering that the Palestinian people are experiencing, for 76 years.
“We address you once again to demand that UN institutions and representatives assume their responsibility and put an end to the impunity of the Israeli occupation, to put an end to the dehumanization of the Palestinian people, to put an end to endless violations of international and humanitarian law,” reads part of the document.
It also points out that UN institutions and their representatives cannot and do not have the right to keep their hands crossed in the face of the Israeli discourse and occupation that they publicly called for the demolition of the UN building.
“Since October of last year, the entire world has witnessed Zionist colonial aggression in the West Bank, as well as the genocide of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip,” he said.
It also denounces the violation of the sovereignty of the peoples of the East and the blockade they maintain to prevent the entry of humanitarian aid, as well as the threat they maintain against Lebanon of repeating the same aggressions that continue on Gaza.
“Dozens of countries have called on the International Court of Justice to demand that the genocide be stopped, so today we are mobilizing once again to defend the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people,” he says.
In this sense, Venezuela denounces and rejects the more than exposed double standards of the UN institutions that “are being hijacked by the hegemony of the United States and the European Union, to be used as a tool against the sovereignty of peoples, we can only tolerate that some powers continue with their imperial desire to impose their exclusive vision of democracy and thus try to justify hegemonization, blockade, racism and interventionism and by means of terror to try to normalize fascism”.
