The Venezuelan U16 basketball team will face the Dominican Republic, this Thursday at 7:30pm, for the quarterfinals of the FIBA AmeriCup championship held in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, in which they will seek their way to the World Cup that they will play next year in Türkiye.
The quintet led by coach Alexis Cedres will jump to the table at the UACJ University gymnasium with the mission of repeating what they did against Brazil, a duel in which they won by a score of 75-67 and which represented the triumph that gave the Venezuelan people the qualification to the top eight round, according to the Ministry of Sport press.
Venezuela finished in third place in the key as a result of the victory against the Amazonians, while Canada ended up leading with an undefeated record of three victories, followed by the Puerto Ricans with two wins and one fall to close with Brazil in the basement without winning duels.
For its part, the Dominican Republic was the second in group A, with a record of a couple of victories and a setback. Patricio Alfonso's men had no problem beating Argentina (91-76) and Mexico (69-68), but they couldn't beat the United States (111-54).
