The Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, reported that a total of 157 creators will participate in the VI Bienal del Sur, which will be inaugurated on October 3, and will be exhibiting their works in Venezuela.

During the press conference at the National Art Gallery (GAN), he explained that this time 25 foreign artists from 16 countries will attend, along with 72 nationals and 60 creators will have a collective photography exhibition.

He also stressed that the participation of artists demonstrates trust in Venezuela as a space for artistic dialogue. “The only recipe for avoiding war and violence is respect for diversity, and these voices from art demand a space for a diverse humanity,” he said.

The minister added that the Biennial will be held in parallel with other important events, such as the Elsa Morales National Art Salon and the Michelena Hall in Carabobo, reaffirming the dynamism of the cultural sector.

“We have a lot of news in the field of visual arts, not to mention the rest of the disciplines of art and culture,” he said.

In addition, he added that the selected works, according to the curatorial team, show a creation “from the most noble, sensitive and humble, but at the same time powerful (...) We are looking forward to sending the works that we will be exhibiting starting October 3 in various museum institutions, in the streets and in the communal spaces of the city of Caracas.”
