VI Juan Beroes International Poetry Biennial convened in Táchira

The rules of the contest state that writers born in Latin America will be able to participate

The call for participation in the VI Juan Beroes International Poetry Biennial to be held in the state of Táchira begins. This contest, which honors the memory of one of the most outstanding poets of the Generation of 40, invites national writers and writers from all over Latin America to present their original and unpublished works in Spanish.

The call will be open from September 3 to November 3, 2024. The jury will be composed of renowned writers and will issue its final verdict before November 17, 2024. No correspondence will be maintained with the authors during the evaluation process and the manuscripts will not be returned.

Papers should be sent exclusively by email to the address [email protected]. in which two files must be attached: one with the book in PDF format, identified only with the title of the work, and the other with a personal data form that includes name, surname, address, identity document, telephone number and contact email.

The rules of the competition state that writers born in Latin America can participate, regardless of their place of residence, provided that they submit a work in Spanish that has not previously been awarded in this competition. Each author may submit a single work, with a length of between 500 and 1,000 verses or lines, which must be rigorously original and unpublished.

After an extended break, the Biennial was relaunched by the governor of the state of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, during FILVEN 2022. In the previous edition, which brought together writers from Colombia and Venezuela, after the reopening of the border crossing, the winner was Javier Bosch from Cucuta. This year, the call is extended to all of Latin America, to seek to enrich the region's poetic landscape.
