From her Telegram channel, the country's executive vice president , Delcy Rodríguez, stated that hand in hand and in vigil with our people she was inaugurated on the statue of Dr. José Gregorio Hernández and Mother Carmen Rendiles in Plaza La Candelaria in Caracas.

“It is undoubtedly an historic moment that the Homeland is experiencing, and seeing these two Venezuelans on the altars as our first saints, joy overflows,” he said.

He added that “we proudly remember the commitment of the President. Maduro, who since 2013 insisted before Pope Francis that justice be done to this immense symbol of Venezuelan faith. While the President presents more than 20 works in honor of The Doctor of the Poor, we celebrate the legacy of this scientist and professor who dedicated his life to the most vulnerable. Holiness comes as a blessing that reaffirms our spiritual identity and our love for peace. United in faith, we make history!”
