Weightlifter Mauricio Loaiza won 110 kg gold and silver at the Central American Games

Venezuelan weightlifter Mauricio Loaiza played a memorable day at the 25th Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo 2026, winning the gold medal in the sport and the silver medal at the start of the men's 110 kg division.

Loaiza demonstrated his strength on the Dominican platform after registering a 171 kg mark at the start to take second place in the race. Later, he imposed his total dominance in the envión by lifting 211 kg, a mark that awarded him the gold metal and allowed him to close the competition with a cumulative total of 382 kg in the Olympic total.

In the starter mode, Loaiza was accompanied on the podium by Mexican Josué Medina 172 kg (gold) and Marcos Bonilla 166 kg (silver)

For his part, in the Envión category, the Venezuelan led the podium with 211 kg, followed by Medina with 206 and Bonilla with 205.
