Western Theater Festival will open with “The Burning of Judas”

This coming Wednesday, December 3rd, the Western Theater Festival will open in Guanare, Portuguese state, at 7:3 p.m., with the play “The Burning of Judas”, by Román Chalbaud, produced by the National Theater Company (CNT).
The theatrical show, which will be presented in the Federico Collado room of the Western Theater Center “Herman Lejter”, is directed by Rufino Dorta, who is in charge of 12 actors on stage who pass between the past and the present for 90 minutes of entertainment. Everything is staged in the living room of the house of the Blessed Lady, in a neighborhood of Caracas, next to the coffin of her son, Jesús María Carmona. A criminal who dies after guarding a bank posing as a police officer to rob it.
Structured as a journalistic story, the plot develops through questions asked by a reporter to the mother of the deceased, who reconstructs the facts for a journalistic work. The piece created in 1964, by Chalbaud, exposes the socio-cultural problems and peculiarities of a country and a continent, where we see themes such as organized crime, a people that live together between religious syncretism, betrayal, daily difficulties, institutional fragility, everlasting corruption and social classes; in addition, of exposing the mother's love to her children, despite their seams.
The cast is made up of actor Omar Churión, who stands out as Jesús María Carmona; the experienced Dora Farías, in her role as a mother who plays the Blessed Lady; the veteran Gerardo Luongo who personifies Ganzua; the actress Yurahy Castro acts as a journalist, and carries the common thread of the work.
One of the characters most awaited by the audience visiting the theater is “La Danta” played by Angélica Rinaldi. For his part, teacher Aníbal Grunn makes an impact like Dr. Altamira,. At the same time, Andersson Figueroa stands out as Jeremías, a strong character, and Joel Hernández personifies Ángel, who lives up to his name.
César Castillo as Gabriel also participate. José Amílcar García as the photographer; and Jason Hernández, as the criminal. In addition, Lenín Antequera is present as Juan, a decisive character, together with the singer Ángela Marrero who, in a sort of Celia Cruz, accompanies a romantic scene from this classic of Venezuelan theater.
It is important to highlight that the public will also be able to enjoy this jewel of Venezuelan dramaturgy, on Thursday, November 4 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the theater box office before each performance.
