World Congress in Defense of Mother Earth calls for voices for life on the planet

During the World Congress in Defense of Mother Earth, Clara Vidal, Minister of Popular Power for Indigenous Peoples, highlighted the importance of the meeting as an international platform to speak out for the protection of the rights of Pachamama.

Vidal pointed out that this forum represents a commitment to coexistence and the permanence of the earth as a common space. He emphasized that reflection on the natural environment must include indigenous thinking and proposed that this dialogue lead to a joint initiative for COP30, planned for the territories of ascentral communities

João Pedro Stédile, spokesperson for Brazil's Landless Movement, recognized Venezuela's efforts to provide a forum where communities can express their opinions at the next climate summit. He stated that the current problem is not due exclusively to ecological factors, but to the current economic system, and urged us to go beyond a discursive approach to promote concrete actions that preserve existence.

The World Mother Earth Congress takes place at the La Carlota Convention Center, Caracas. The event brings together numerous participants from different countries, including social leaders, environmentalists, academics and representatives of popular power.
