World Congress in Defense of Mother Earth reaffirms unity and ancient wisdom

From the World Congress in Defense of Mother Earth, which takes place at the La Carlota Convention Center, the Minister of Popular Power for Indigenous Peoples, Clara Vidal, emphasized the need for the consolidation and unification of men and women who raise a single voice in defense of the planet.

*Thinking about Mother Earth cannot be isolated from indigenous peoples and their ancient wisdom; it's time for all of us to come together and come out with a unified proposal,” he said.

The minister, according to a note from the Ministry of Science and Technology, urged to unify criteria and ideas to confront predatory capitalism, pointing out that Venezuela is once again the multicultural center from which people say 'no' to that system.

In addition, he highlighted the importance of listening to and valuing the spiritual experience and the connection of each indigenous people with the land to strengthen this struggle.

For his part, David Choquehuanca, vice-president of Bolivia and international spokesperson, warned of the false promises of green capitalism, which only perpetuate systems of domination.

“We need mechanisms of oversight, transparency and sanction, no more commitments without the capacity to act, no more climate creeds at the service of green capitalism,” he claimed after stressing that there must be a real commitment that goes beyond empty speeches.

Choquehuanca also pointed out that the world's original peoples, millennial guardians, defend collective rights to their codes of life, and demand a multilateral mechanism to tax the benefits derived from the commercialization of digital genetic information, combating biopiracy disguised as cooperation.

Finally, he stressed that truth must be built in community, respecting all cultures and species, since they form an integral part of the fabric of life, complying with the “Codes of Living Well” that were highlighted as the genuine product of this vital interconnection of spiritual unity and joint struggle for the defense of Mother Earth.
