This Wednesday, the outgoing pro tempore president of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), Xiomara Castro, spearheaded the organization's 9th Summit of Heads of State, and during her participation she emphasized commitment against war and for peace.

CELAC must be respected as a zone of peace, this commitment against war and in favor of peace must be ratified this day in this Assembly,” said the president of Honduras as well.

In this regard, he added that it is necessary to sustain space to demonstrate that “we continue to work for unity, being the continent of hope.”

CELAC must be more than a forum, it must be a tool of emancipation, sovereign cooperation, environmental justice, democratic socialism and self-determination, the inaction of peoples,” Castro said during his speech.

The event brings together representatives from 33 countries, including at least 10 heads of State and Government, in the Juan Manuel Gálvez Hall of the Central Bank of Honduras (BCH), located in Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras.
