This Sunday, the Broad Front candidate, Yamandú Orsi, won the presidential elections after beating Álvaro Delgado of the National Party in the second round.
With 98.95% of the votes counted, Orsi obtained 1 million 183 thousand 196 of the votes, while Delgado obtained 1 million 90 thousand 194 votes.
With this result, the left returns to political power in that country and it was Delgado himself who recognized Orsi's victory, which was anticipated by projections from the polling companies, according to a press release from Radio Miraflores.
Orsi, will succeed the current president Luis Lacalle Pou on March 1, who was quite controversial during his term of office and has no option of re-election because the Uruguayan constitution does not contemplate it.
