The Minister of Popular Power for Indigenous Peoples, Clara Vidal, highlighted the importance of the 3rd National Multicultural, Multiethnic and Ancestral Meeting for Peace and Sovereignty, which was held in the Quibayo sector, located in the Sorte mountain, Yaracuy state.

The event brought together representatives of various indigenous peoples of the country and was attended by international guests, reports Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) on its website.

Vidal exalted this space as a platform to make visible the cultural richness of the original communities. “We are here so that they can witness what we are, what we are made of, and what is our vision, the vision from a cultural point of view,” he said.

He also reported that during the meeting, a manifesto for peace and national sovereignty was presented, to reaffirm the commitment of indigenous peoples to the defense of their rights and the unity of the country.

The meeting is part of the activities leading up to the Day of Indigenous Resistance, which will be celebrated this October 12 with a grand march in honor of peace, sovereignty, multiculturalism and the achievements achieved since the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution, led by Commander Hugo Chávez.
