Young fishermen and aquaculturists in the country carried out a day of work with the objective of strengthening the sectoral organization, making their productive contributions visible and building proposals that will be raised to the Youth Constitution.
The activity was attended by the Minister of Popular Power for Youth, Sergio Lotartaro, who emphasized the strategic importance of this sector in the national economic transformation.
“Today, fishing represents the sovereignty of our nation, it is the freedom of Venezuela. What you do every day, as you embark and enter the sea, is an act of love for your country and a commitment to your future,” said the minister.
In his speech, Lotartaro outlined four key tasks for fishing youth: the review of productive projects, territorial organization, strengthening the value chain, and training and active participation, seeking to involve a greater number of young people in the sector.
He also emphasized the need to raise the academic level of the movement. “You must become fishery engineers, marine biologists and experts in cold chains and exports. Knowledge is also sovereignty,” he said.
In this regard, he proposed expanding the educational offer in maritime careers, decentralizing learning opportunities and developing specific proposals from the Youth Constituent Assembly for the strengthening of the sector.
Lotartaro welcomed the active participation of young fishermen and urged them to assume new responsibilities to consolidate their leadership.
In this context, the president of the Great Venezuela Youth Mission, Genesis Garvett, called on fishing youth to continue to be a symbol of firmness, courage and love for the country.
He also ratified the support of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, for productive youth and welcomed the fact that this meeting serves as a platform to continue building proposals, organization and training, projecting from the sea into the future.
“This meeting is a look to the future. You are the vanguard, you are the people, you are living history. And with their love for the country and for fishing, we are destined to win,” he emphasized.
