The 21st International Book Fair (FILVEN) in Venezuela will open in the state of Zulia this Thursday, October 23, under the slogan Reading humanizes. The event will be held at the María Calcaño Public Library, in the parish of Santa Lucía de Maracaibo.
This meeting will take place until Saturday 25th of this month with 35 exhibitors and an extensive program that includes book presentations, talks, workshops and the traditional children's pavilion. Among the literary novelties, the public will be able to find books published by the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture (MPPC) through The Dog and the Frog, Monte Ávila and the Ayacucho Library.
FILVEN Zulia pays tribute to the writers: Adelfa Giovanni, poet, essayist and cultural promoter; and Neida Atencio, author specialized in children's literature, communication and culture. In addition, national tribute will be paid to writers Judith Valencia, Esteban Emilio Mosonyi, Marc de Civrieux, Gonzalo Fragui and Juan Calzadilla.
Local and national authors and guests will attend, including Carmen Bohórquez, a philosopher and historian considered one of the main authorities on the thought and legacy of Francisco de Miranda, and Casimira Monasterio, a researcher of Afro-Venezuelan culture. FILVEN Zulia is organized by the MPPC, through the National Book Center (CENAL) and the State Office of Culture of Zulia, in coordination with the Government of Zulia and the municipalities of Maracaibo and San Francisco.
