This Monday, July 07, the Sectorial Vice President of Communication and Culture, Freddy Ñáñez, highlighted that nine Palestinian poets will participate as guests in the 19th World Poetry Festival, which will take place from July 14 to 20 in Caracas.
It will also have the participation of more than 40 international poets. At the same time, he emphasized that the mission of the 19th World Poetry Festival is to reach young audiences, promoting equality and linguistic development, as well as in defense of their own history and culture.
He pointed out that the Venezuelan cultural heritage is at risk, but national youth will allow its adequate preservation, in addition to facilitating its evolution; through their creative capacities, which are reflected in initiatives such as the Juan Calzadilla National School.
“We have a heritage that is lost sight of and has to do with the consciousness that the people have with the consciousness of the spirit (...) that is very present in young people who know how to combine the new cultural forms of this modernity with their roots,” he said. In addition, he valued the new generations for their ability to “move through the vertiginous madness of social networks”.
“We are in a cultural battle where youth have assumed a historical and political conscience,” added Ñáñez, who exemplified this thinking with the projects to be presented for democratic election at the next National Youth Consultation, scheduled for July 27.
The opening of the Festival will take place on Monday, July 14 at 6:00 p.m., in the José Félix Ribas Hall of the Teresa Carreño Theater, Caracas. The other states in which the Festival will take place include Anzoátegui, Amazonas, Apure, Aragua, Barinas, Carabobo, Cojedes, Falcón, Guárico, La Guaira, Mérida, Miranda, Monagas, Nueva Esparta, Portuguesa, Sucre, Táchira, Trujillo and Zulia.
