On February 29, 2004, before a crowd that mobilized for peace and against paramilitarism, Commander Hugo Chávez declared that the Bolivarian Revolution assumed an anti-imperialist character, after overcoming multiple attacks and attempts at destabilization, and called for civic-military union to defend the sovereignty and independence of Venezuela.
“Never before, since this Revolution have we pointed out imperialism as we are pointing it out, that is, I ratify it here, the Bolivarian Revolution after five years and three months and a little more of government, and after having gone through several stages, has entered the anti-imperialist phase, this is an Anti-imperialist Revolution and that fills it with a special content that obliges us, yes, that obliges us to clear thinking and action not only in Venezuela but in the entire world,” said Chávez from the Botanical Garden.
At the beginning of 2004, the former President of the United States, George W. Bush, increased financial and conspiracy support for his allies and
deployed open interference with pressures of all kinds to remove Chávez from power in
the short term through a recall referendum or through violent means.
In this sense, the Leader of the Bolivarian Revolution understood that the time had come to face North American imperialism without nuances. And he decides to speak clearly to the people about imperialism and its role in the history of our America, since the time of the Liberator Simon Bolivar.
“Almost 200 years have passed since that alert made by the great visionary leader that was Simón Bolívar, 200 years later here we are focused on this Bolivarian Caracas to continue telling them 'No to North American interventionism in our land'”, he emphasized.
In this regard, he asserted that Bolívar's prophecy was fulfilled: “The United States of America seems destined by Providence to plague America with misery in the name of freedom.”
The crowd that accompanied him with a standing ovation increased when the Bolivarian leader decreed: “There are enough balls here to defend this land from any intruder who intends to come and humiliate the dignity of this sacred land of all of us! Damn it!” , warned.
