Venezuela stands out in weightlifting at the Ayacucho-Lima 2025 Bolivarian Games, after winning 7 gold medals, 2 silver medals, 2 bronze medals and setting 3 records on its first day of competing in the discipline at the La Videna Complex sports center in Lima.
Anyelin Venegas shone in the 58 kg section, winning two golds and a continental record. At the start, he lifted 99 kilograms, while in envión he recorded 122 kg, to climb to the top of the podium and import a Pan-American record, with a cumulative total of 221 kg.
In the male category, the Venezuelan Reinner Arango emulated Venegas' feat, establishing a new record, this time Bolivarian, in the starting specialty with 150 kg and, in addition, he led the ranking of the envión with 175 kg to total 325 kg.
Meanwhile, Katherine Echandia won a silver medal in the starting mode when she lifted 85 kg and decisively closed her staging after dominating the challenge with a maximum weight of 107 kg.
In addition, the young Patricia Mercado marked her mark by dominating the 48-kilo division in the envión modality with 98 kg and, she won silver at the start with 78 kg.
Jefferson Gómez demonstrated his supremacy in the race with 143 kg to win the gold medal and added a second metal but silver starting with a better lift of 111 kg to accumulate 254 kg in total.
For his part, Wilkeinner Lugo won the gold one in the 60 kg in shipment with 143 kg and in the 65 kg he secured the bronze one also in the envión modality with 153 kg.
