In an official statement, issued on the occasion of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations (UN), Venezuela urged the multilateral organization to stop the illegal occupation and continued genocide by the Zionist government of Israel against the Palestinian people and reiterated its recognition of the oppressed State.

Below is the full text of the statement:

Eighty years after the founding of the United Nations, it is urgent to stop the illegal occupation and the continued genocide by the Zionist State of Israel against the Palestinian people. The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically condemns the systematic genocide carried out by the regime of Benjamin Netanyahu, which since October 2023 has claimed more than 65,000 victims, mostly girls, boys, women and the elderly, in a human tragedy that is only comparable to the crimes of Nazi extermination.

On the eve of this historic Assembly, Venezuela celebrates the recognition of the State of Palestine by a growing number of countries and fully supports the efforts of the International Conference for the implementation of the two-state solution, with the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital.

Despite these demonstrations of global solidarity, the United States Department of State denies the visa and prevents the participation of President Mahmud Abbas and his delegation in the General Assembly, a measure that constitutes an act of aggression against multilateralism and a violation of the principles of international law.

The Venezuelan people, heirs to the Bolivarian feat, reiterate their unwavering solidarity with Palestine and call on the international community to break the silence and to act firmly in defense

of justice, sovereignty and peace.
