ALBA-TCP and Southern African countries sign Memorandum of Understanding

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) signed this Thursday a Memorandum of Understanding with the Southern African Development Community (SADC), an instrument aimed at promoting economic growth, peace and integration in both regions.

The event, held in virtual format, was chaired by the Executive Secretary of ALBA-TCP, Jorge Arreaza, and the Executive Secretary of SADC, Elías Magos; accompanied by the Venezuelan ambassadors accredited to Angola, South Africa, Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, together with the ambassadors of South African countries accredited to the South American nation.

Both multilateral organizations emphasized the same principles of regional economic integration and the fight against poverty and social exclusion, whose common efforts will be aimed at social and human development, industrialization, cooperation in matters of peace and security, communication technologies, among others, according to a press release from the Latin American integration block.

The ALBA-TCP is an international cooperation organization based on solidarity, complementarity and justice, whose objective is the integration of Latin American and Caribbean countries. For its part, the SADC, made up of Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe, promotes sustainable economic growth, cooperation and integration in southern Africa.
