Venezuelan rider Alberto Torres became the continental runner-up in men's speed at the Junior Pan American Games in Asunción, Paraguay.
The Venezuelan won the silver medal, in the indoor velodrome of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, after an outstanding participation in the qualifying rounds and in the semifinals he dominated the heats with a record of 10,562 and 10,596 against Colombian Francisco Jaramillo.
In the final, he faced New Granada's Nicolás Olivera, who won the gold medal and the direct ticket to the Lima 2027 Pan American Games.
The podium was completed by Argentinian Alejo Betica after beating his rival, Colombian Jaramillo, in two of the three races to win bronze.
