Ambassador Moncada was re-elected by acclamation as Vice President of the UN General Assembly

This Monday, June 2 , the United Nations General Assembly re-elected, by acclamation, Ambassador Samuel Moncada, permanent representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, as vice-president of that principal organ of the United Nations (UN) for the 80th session (2025-2026), representing the Latin American and Caribbean Group (GRULAC).

This was announced by the Foreign Ministry of the Republic through its account on the social network Instagram, in which it specified that this is the second consecutive time that the Venezuelan diplomat has occupied this position within the General Assembly, representing a reaffirmation of regional support and recognition of the role and active participation of Venezuela in this important multilateral forum.

During his first year as Vice President of the General Assembly, Moncada actively participated in promoting the debates and work of this body, including issues of economic, social and decolonization scope.

It also promoted important debates such as those related to the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures on human rights, the right to development, international cooperation and solidarity, respect for sovereignty, multilateralism and dialogue among civilizations.
